COMMUNITY

A Community of Learners

"In schools where adults are learning and sharing and having honest conversations—in general, collaborating well—students are more likely to do the same. High levels of collegiality are associated with high levels of student achievement. We don't have to go further than our own campus to tap into these benefits. When I was looking at a school community to become a part of, the biggest question for me was, 'How well do the adults work together?' I'm here because of the way this school answered that question—because of this environment."

Neal Brown, Assistant Head of School

Neal Brown is a founder and current Board Member of the National Center for Independent School Renewal, an organization that grew out of the Coalition of Essential Schools (launched by Theodore Sizer and headquartered at Brown University) to foster collaborative networks among educators and schools.
