Securities
Gifts of appreciated stock or mutual funds can provide you with important tax advantages. There is no capital gains tax when you give appreciated securities that you have held for more than eighteen months; plus you can receive an income tax deduction for part of the gift. Gifts of securities may be made in several ways. The most common practice is to place the securities with your broker, bank, or other agent with a request that they be transferred to Nashoba Brooks School's brokerage account.
