INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS

Interscholastic Sports

The athletic program for Grades 6-8, fourteen teams strong, offers the kind of competitive opportunities that have been proven to help young women of this age achieve higher self-esteem and develop leadership qualities.

The coach for the fall, 2004, Nashoba Brooks varsity soccer team was John Cunningham, Competition and Training Director for the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Coach Cunningham emphasized playing to strengths as a way to gain confidence. “In our early training sessions, I would say, ‘You won’t be able to do this at first.’ These girls were determined. They never backed away from a challenge. You can be the winner of the genetic lottery—six-feet-two and with perfect fitness—but you won’t succeed if you don’t have the drive. These are very talented young women.”

Participation in interscholastic sports is 90 percent and is divided among the following sports offerings:

Soccer
Field Hockey
Cross Country
Basketball
Lacrosse
Track and Field
Softball
Squash
Tennis
