A Letter from the Director

Winter 2008

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Summer Center Web Page.  Our aim is to revise and update this site regularly, so check us out.  Planning for the Summer 2008 sessions is in full swing.  We are gearing up to spread the word about our program as well as design new curriculum for our students.  Our dates of JUNE 23 –JULY 25, 2008 are set.  We will not be in session on July 4, 2008.

There are some exciting new courses on offer for 2008. Look for our French Immersion Class, which will delight all Francophiles. Our Pre School program is expanding to include several afternoon options for our youngest campers. The popular Writers Workshop and Engineering class are also developing new curriculum. The call for more "active" choices has been heard. An instructional floor/field hockey class will be offered during Week 2 and a Fitness class for kids who want to have or need healthy, high energy fun will be offered all 5 weeks of the Summer Center.

Coming soon you will find a copy of the Parent Evaluation and the results of that survey.  As always, our parents are astute observers of the program and offered excellent feedback on last summer’s experience and provided guidance for exciting new directions.  Though courses within the Math, Science and Tech disciplines remain, new programming in Writing and Music plus a dedicated Pre School Program for 3 and 4 year olds tap into a wider range of students’ interests and developmental readiness.

We will finalize course selections as soon as possible and post schedules and registration materials by the new year. Our section on Frequently Asked Questions, may answer any immediate questions you have about our wonderful program.  I am always available for individual conversation about Summer Center at jmaguire@nbsc.org  and hope you won’t hesitate to contact me.

All the best,

Jan Maguire
